Data Ethics
NRI Financial Services exists to make NRI marketing data more useful and more responsible. We're a UK-registered company (operating as Stratford Insights Ltd) and we believe a healthy data economy depends on data subjects, brands, and intermediaries playing fair with each other. This page sets out the commitments we hold ourselves — and our customers — to.
Our principles
- Consent first. Every record in our datasets corresponds to a Data Subject who opted in for marketing communications at the originating platform. If we cannot evidence the consent basis, the record does not enter the Dataset.
- Public sources only. The personal data we curate is sourced from publicly accessible databases of established consumer fintech, remittance, and diaspora-services companies referenced on our Site. We do not buy from grey-market sellers, scraped breach dumps, or undisclosed brokers.
- Transparency with Data Subjects. Anyone listed in a Dataset has the right to know we hold a record about them, request a copy, and request its erasure — without justifying the request. We respond within one calendar month.
- One-step opt-out. An opt-out request to contact@nrifinancialservices.com removes a record from current and future Dataset deliveries. Customers are contractually required to honour the suppression in their own systems on receipt.
- Customers are accountable. Our Terms of Service require Customers to use Datasets only for lawful direct-marketing purposes, only within the scope of the original consent, and never to resell, sublicense, or weaponise the data. Breach of these terms ends the licence.
- No surveillance, no profiling for harm. We do not include sensitive special-category data (health, religion, political views, sexual orientation, etc.) in our Datasets. We do not assist with adversarial profiling, social scoring, or any use that materially harms the Data Subject.
How we collect data
We aggregate publicly available records that have been disclosed by their originating consumer-facing platforms in the course of normal business — newsletters, public profiles, partner-marketing programmes, opt-in directories, and similar sources. Records pass three filters before being added to the Dataset:
- Consent verification — the source must indicate a marketing-consent basis at the point of collection.
- Identity verification — name, email, and country must be internally consistent and free from obvious dummy patterns.
- Suppression check — the record is checked against our running global suppression list (people who have asked to be forgotten).
What we will not do
- We will not include any record where the consent basis is unclear or expired.
- We will not process special-category data under UK GDPR Article 9 (race, religion, health, etc.).
- We will not enrich or re-identify pseudonymous records using third-party identity-resolution services.
- We will not knowingly sell to operators of scams, deceptive lending, predatory immigration services, or any business model whose primary effect is to harm Data Subjects.
- We will not include records about minors under 16.
What we ask of our customers
When you license a Dataset from us, you agree to:
- Use the data only for the marketing purpose for which the Data Subjects originally opted in.
- Maintain a publicly accessible privacy notice that accurately describes your processing.
- Honour every opt-out request you receive — promptly and across every channel you use.
- Keep the Dataset secure and confidential. Do not resell, repackage, or sublicense it.
- Tell us within 72 hours if you experience a personal-data breach involving the Dataset.
Are you listed in our data? Here's how to remove yourself.
If you'd like to know whether we hold a record about you, or you'd like that record removed, email contact@nrifinancialservices.com from the email address you'd like us to look up. Include the word "Erasure request" in the subject line. We respond within one calendar month and there is no charge.
You may also lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Continuous improvement
Data ethics is not a fixed checklist — it evolves with technology and with public expectations. We review this page at least annually and welcome feedback. If you think we can do better, write to us at contact@nrifinancialservices.com.
